Iridium-NEXT is a low-orbiting communications satellite system operated by Iridium Communications Inc. as the company’s second generation global communications system for satellite calls and data transfer. Comprised of 66 active satellites in orbit, Iridium-NEXT delivers full global pole-to-pole coverage on a 24/7 basis.

LikeAbird’s first generation of Iridium-NEXT SATCOM modular beySAT terminal offers bi-directional SBD, CSD and RUDICS data communications at a rate of up to 2.4Kbps. The Low-SWaP-C (Size, Weight, Power and Cost) beySAT Iridium terminal has been designed specifically for unmanned systems applications, in particular for UAV/Drones. However it can be used for any standalone application and does not need to be paired with an aviation application.

beySAT TERMINAL OVERVIEW

beySAT is an Iridium 9523N transceiver based modular terminal enabling near real-time command and control, telemetry streaming, and GPS (beySAT-SOM) connectivity for unmanned air/land/sea systems.

 The modular SWaP-C terminal, composed of the beySAT-CORE 9523N transceiver board, an application specific data interface/processing board and an I/O backplane, enables 2.4 kbps uplink and downlink speeds. Designed for use with unmanned systems (UAS/UGV/USV), the cost-effective Iridium 9523N modem allows for pole-to-pole connectivity around the globe with 99.9% reliability and stunningly low latency. The modem is compatible with commercial and DoD SIM cards and, in the beySAT-SOM configuration, also features remote management functionality through web or software API as needed.

The beySAT terminal offers narrowband BVLOS communications for  command and control (C2) and telemetry streaming. With the Iridium’s pole-to-pole coverage satellite constellation you can control your remote vehicles from anywhere to anywhere around the world. When paired with the beyAIR-DUO redundant LTE VPN router, enjoy automatic smart data routing between cellular and satellite networks.

Ideal for UAV/UGV/USV and UAM (Air Taxis) Operations

Due its Low-SWaP modular architecture and highly customizable I/O and power architecture, the beySAT support a large range of air, land and sea platforms. Suitable for both standalone usage and embedded integration makes it the ideal companion to wireless and 4G/5G data link solutions to enable narrowband primary or secondary command and control (C2), telemetry, diagnostic monitoring, and other applications.

Multiple Interfaces for Analog and Digital Compatibility​

Add SATCOM capability to your companion computer and autopilot/flight controller choosing your preferred data interface carrier board. Ranging from standard UART or USB interfaces up to multiple flexible analog and digital inputs supporting discrete input/output signals, RS-232/422/485, ARINC-429, CAN Bus, SMBus/I2C, SPI and Ethernet interfaces for advanced compatibility for all operational profiles.

LikeAbird is listening to its customers and recognized that standard Iridium Subscription and Pre-Paid Service Plans are not well suited for unmanned systems operations. Through our UTM & BVLOS Connectivity Service Brand BEYOND we will offer tailored pooled service plans, RUDICS accounts and VPN data routing services.
